Daniel Scott's Story
I'm originally from Muhlenberg County, KY (Midland) but moved to Hartford, Kentucky in time to start first grade at Wayland Alexander Elementary in 1976. I lived in Hartford until 1980-81 when my parents divorced and I moved to Conroe, Texas with my mother. I lived there for one year and attended Reeves Elementary school.
I moved back to Hartford in 1981-82 and finished my elementary education at Wayland.
In 1982-83, I moved back to Conroe with my mom. There, I attended Travis Junior High and Conroe High School until October of 1987 (middle of my senior year) when we moved back to Kentucky, this time Central City. I ended up graduating from Central City High School in 1988.
From there I went to Western Kentucky University where I triple majored in English, political science and secondary education. I graduated in 1993.
I did my student teaching at Ohio County High School and got my first full time job teaching English and social studies at Todd County Central High School in 1994.
After two years in Todd County, I took a position at Hancock County High School. I was hired there in 1996 to teach English ...Expand for more
and coach cross country and track. I've been there ever since. I am now the head of the English department and I am the boys and girls varsity track coach. I was head coach of the cross country team from 1996 until 2006. During that time my teams earned 2 state championship titles, 3 state runner up titles, 2 individual champions (one boy and one girl) and numerous regional titles. I have coached numerous regional and state champions and finalists in track and field.
In 2000 I met my wife Barbara Ayer. We married on March 30, 2002. Since then we have had two children. Sadly, we lost our first during the second trimester.
Thankfully, God blessed us with a healthy boy (Aidan Scott Neal) on May 8th, 2005. He is now in preschool at Settle Memorial and will be starting kindergarten at Hancock County North Elementary next year.
My wife is a shift supervisor at Owensboro Police Department Dispatch. We both have motorcycles and spend a lot of our spare time riding. We also love attending concerts and shows as well as travel. Mexico and the Smokys are our two favorite destinations.
